Belvidere Rotary Club Helps Renovate Pre-Schools in Timoulilt Morocco
Having witnessed firsthand the dire need of the preschool program in his native village, the Timoulilt Morocco Project was initiated three years ago by the President of the Belvidere Rotary Club with the following objective:
Ensuring that 120 – 150 village children receive a quality preschool education by providing them with educational supplies and material, furnishings and equipment for six classrooms and creating an environment that is conducive to learning and child development for 3, 4, and 5 year old girls and boys.
This project also involved renovation of three classrooms and bathroom facilities as well as building a small playground.
A partnership between Belvidere Rotary Club, Casablanca Rotary and ATD
This project was sponsored by the Belvidere Rotary Club in partnership with the Casablanca International Rotary Club, as the host club and (ATD) the Timoulilt Association for Development, a nonprofit organization in the village of Timoulilt/Morocco.
This preschool program is self-run and self-funded by ATD, a nonprofit organization, on a shoestring budget. The facilities and the equipment have not been upgraded since the association started the program in 2004.
In preparation for the project, the International Rotary host club of Casablanca conducted a needs assessment study in numerous visits to the village and meetings with the board members of ATD.The budgeting and programming of the TMP project were based on this needs list. After an MOU was signed by the presidents of the International Rotary Club of Casablanca, ATD and the Belvidere Rotary Club, a $52,000.00 grant was awarded to the project.
Thanks to the entire team of the three partners with the help of many others, the project was launched in a great celebration ceremony on September 29, 2018.
